We're Anouk and Gijs. Teachers. Parents. And the builders of ReadLab.

We've seen it for years, in the classroom and at home.

Kids who read fine. Fast, even. But ask them what they just read, and it goes quiet.

Not because they're not smart. Not because they don't pay attention. But because no one teaches them how to understand a text.

That's a big difference. And it's the problem we will solve.

As teachers, we know where things go wrong. Schools spend too little time on reading comprehension. The apps that exist focus on learning to read, or on reading for fun. Not on understanding.

As parents, we feel it too. You want to help your child, but how? There is no good tool that trains comprehension at the right level, without you having to build a lesson plan yourself.

That's why we're building ReadLab. An app that fills that gap. No gimmicks. No distracting animations. Just solid exercises that teach children, step by step, to grasp what they read.

We build with a few clear principles:

  • Privacy comes first: we only collect what's needed.
  • No ads in the app. Ever. We're honest about what we build and why.
  • And we launch when it's ready and tested, not when it's fast.

In the coming weeks, we'll show you what we're building, how it works and when you can start. You'll hear from us every week.
